Welcome to our Barcelona Food Tours FAQ page. Here you can find out all you need to know before you arrive for one of our Barcelona food tours or Wine and Tapas Tours. Food & Beverages Questions & Answers
Can I join if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
We can accommodate special requests in terms of dietary restrictions or food allergies. Please let us know upon your ticket purchase if anyone in your group has a special diet so we can accommodate your needs.
Can you cater to vegans?
Yes it is possible, although the selections may be limited due to the Spanish culture. The exception is Gourmet Gaudi and The Perfect Pairing which are not suitable – please contact us in advance to arrange or if you have further questions.
What food intolerances can you cater to?
We cater to Lactose-intolerant, Celiac diets and Gluten Sensitivity.
Do you cater for vegetarians?
Yes. Although some of the traditional dishes are non-vegetarian we do have equally delicious non-meat options. Please do let us know the number of vegetarians in your group when you book.
What’s Included in our Gourmet Gaudi Experience?
We will enjoy a chilled glass of local Cava, 2 types of freshly shucked Oysters, 6 different artisanal chocolates to taste. A 6 course lunch in a top Michelin-starred restaurant, including 2 glasses of wine, bottled water & coffee.
What’s Included in our Born to Eat Experience?
We visit three tapas food stops, indulging in dishes from different parts of Spain and savoring the drinks that are paired with them. Our final stop is a traditional wine bodega, where we indulge in the art of wine tasting. Catalunya has no less than 11 D.O.’s and you will get to try at least 4 different types of wine or cava.
What’s Included in our Savor Spain Experience?
We will be tasting more than 15 different dishes originating from all over Spain: From Andalusia in the south to the culinary gem of Asturia in the north and some local Catalan cuisine. At each stop a traditional drink (vermut, wine, beer etc) will be paired with the food, but you’ll also have the option of a non-alcoholic drink if you prefer.
Should I eat before the tour?
We recommend to bring your appetites, there is enough food on the tours to make up a complete full meal.
Do you have non-alcoholic options?
Yes, please let us know upon booking or at the beginning of your tour that you prefer the non-alcoholic options and we are happy to accommodate your request
Can I get a discount if I choose the non-alcoholic option?
Unfortunately, non-alcoholic drinks in Spain sometimes are the same price or more expensive than a glass of local beer or wine so we cannot give you a discount.
Is bottled water included?
Only our Gourmet Gaudi tour includes bottled water. For all our other tours we recommend to bring some water with you, especially if it is a hot day.
General Tour Questions & Answers
How much overlap is there between the tours? Can I join two different tours and not repeat information or stops?
All of our tours visit different neighborhoods of Barcelona and give insight into different food traditions of Spain. If you have the time we recommend to join more than one of our tours. Do feel free to contact us for tour ideas.
What are the start and end times of the tours?
Born to eat: Our tours operate at 12.15pm on Tuesdays, Thursday & Saturdays and end around 15:15pm.
Savor Spain: Our tours operate Mondays to Saturdays. Tours start at 3.45pm and end around 8.00pm
Gourmet Gaudi: Our tours operate Tuesdays to Fridays. Tours start at 12.30pm and end around 3.30-4.00pm
The Perfect Pairing: Our tours operate Tuesdays and Saturdays. Tours start at 5.00pm and end around 8.30pm
* Private tours can be arranged outside these times.
Does my tour run even if it rains?
Tours run rain or shine. In extreme weather conditions we will reach out to you to reschedule.
Can I shop on the tours?
We kindly ask you to refrain from shopping during the tour so we can provide you with an informative and enjoyable tour in a timely manner. At the end of the tour we are happy to point you in the direction of the shops you liked.
Am I allowed to take photos during the tour?
Yes, taking in photos is encouraged. However, without prior written consent we do not allow video cameras or voice recordings during the tour.
Are the tours stroller and wheelchair accessible?
Yes, all of our tours are baby stroller and wheelchair accessible.
Do you offer tours in any other languages?
All of our public tours run in English but we can run private tousr in Spanish, Catalan, Italian, French and Arabic. Should you want to arrange a tour in a different language, please contact us and and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Where do the tours end?
Savor Spain, Born to Eat & Tapalicious: The tours all end in the Born district of the old town, close to the Barceloneta or Jaume Metro stop. If you feel like enjoying more of the area, we will give you suggestions of our favourite wine & cocktail bars.
Gourmet Gaudi: The tour ends very close to the starting point, taxis and transport are readily available from this location.
The Perfect Pairing: The tour ends in the charming Barceloneta neighborhood close to the sea. Buses, Taxis and the metro are all close by.
Where is the meeting point?
Savour Spain: In front of Hotel 1898 on Las Ramblas (Address: Rambla de Canaletes, 109) underneath the ornate street lamp on the pedestrian path. Closest metro stations are Catalunya and Liceu.
Born to Eat, Tapalicious & The Perfect Pairing: Our meeting point is in front of the Correos (post office) in Plaça d’Antonio López, 08002 Barcelona
Gourmet Gaudi: Our meeting point is in front of the Boutique Rolex Store on corner of Passeig de Gracia with Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. Address: Passeig de Gracia, 108.
Tour Restrictions Questions & Answers
Are your tours suitable for children?
Our Savor Spain tour is suitable for children from the age of 8. There are games along the way to keep them entertained. For the tours Gourmet Gaudi, Born to Eat & The Perfect Pairing we have an age limit of 18.
Do you have any age restrictions?
Children above the age of 8 are welcome on our Savor Spain tour. For the Gourmet Gaudi, The Perfect Pairing and Born to Eat tours the minimum age is 18.
Can I bring my pet?
As our tours include visiting a number of food establishments, pets are not allowed.
How physically fit do I need to be in order to join your tours?
The tours require minimal amount of physical fitness. At the stops seating opportunities are provided.
On the Savour Spain tour the actual walking time is around 1.5 hours (~ 3.5 km) with breaks at the tasting places that offer seating opportunities.
On the Born to Eat, Tapalicious & The Perfect Pairing tours the actual walking time is around 20 minutes with breaks at the tasting places that offer seating opportunities.
On the Gourmet Gaudi tour the actual walking time is around 30 minutes. (~ 1.5 km)
Is the tour worth participating in if I am from Barcelona?
Absolutely! Locals joining us always learn alot, about the areas, the history and about the food they take for granted every day. They also visit very local spots that have been so close to them, but they’ve never visited – it’s always a surprise!
I am a solo traveller. Can I join your tours?
Absolutely! It’s a great way to meet other people. Please note that we do not run the tour if only one person is booked on it. If we are unable to find another date that works for you, the full amount of your ticket will be refunded
Other Questions & Answers
What should I bring with me?
Wear comfortable shoes, sunglasses and a camera. If rain is forecasted, please bring an umbrella or poncho.
Do you provide bottled water?
We do not provide bottled water as a general rule on the tours, so in summer we encourage our guests to bring a bottle of water with them. If you wish to swap out any of our paired drinks for water. just let your guide know before entering each establishment.
Can I book a private event?
Yes of course. Please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
When is the best time to visit Barcelona?
Barcelona is great to visit year round. The temperature is moderate in Spring and Autumn and quite warm in the summer. In August most Spaniards take their holidays and many locals leave Barcelona. Some local shops and restaurants close for a few weeks in August. There are tons of events happening year round and we recommend a quick look to see what parades/shows are on during your stay here. Payments Questions & Answers
What is your refund & cancellation policy?
Small Group Public Tours
- We offer free cancellations and date changes (pending availability) up to 7 days before your scheduled tour.
- We offer 50% refund if cancellation is notified with more than 48 hours (but less than 7 days) before the scheduled tour.
- No refunds or date changes will be issued with less than 48 hours notice of the scheduled tour.
- No refunds or date changes are available once a tour has commenced.
- Cancellations and/or date changes must be communicated by email to firstname.lastname@example.org with no less than 7 days in advance of the tour in order to receive a refund.
Private & Corporate Tours
- Please consult the tour booking conditions provided at the time of your reservation for full details.
Can I just show up without booking?
All tour tickets must be purchased in advance
Do I need to pay for my ticket in advance?
Yes, a payment of the full ticket price is required upon booking via our website.
Can I pay cash?
Unfortunately, the payment needs to be done online through the website.
Can I change the dates of my tour?
Should the availability of our tours allow, we can accommodate your request to change the dates of your tour. Please contact us for further details.
Can I get on a waiting list when a tour is sold out?
We pride ourselves in our small group sizes of maximum 8 people. We have no official waiting list, but if a tour is full please get in contact with us we will do our best to open another tour for your party.
Do you offer discounts on the tickets of children and senior?
At the moment we do not offer discounted tickets.
What is included in the price?
A walking tour, delightful dishes, drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic provided), historical & cultural knowledge of the city, knowledgeable & enthusiastic local guide. Your ticket includes all local Taxes, but not any discretionary Tips.
Can I tip my guide?
Yes. Although tipping your guide is not compulsory in Spain, it is always greatly received by your guide.
When is the cut-off to book?
The tool will allow you to book until midnight the day before the tour. If you are interested in joining a tour with less notice, please call or email us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Do I need to be fit for the walk?
No. The walks are all at a gentle pace, over flat ground with only a few gentle slopes. For the exact walking distance of each tour please refer to the Tour Details.
